Spring 2012 Student teachers begin!
Nyack College's Spring 12 student teachers have begun their placements in the schools!
They are off to an excellent start and I am looking forward to hearing about their experiences in senior seminar, and to visiting some classrooms for a first hand view. They are each ready and I am sure they will be a blessing to their cooperating teachers and schools.:)

Take my resume!!
Principal Gina Cappiello of Valley Cottage Elementary School came to Senior Seminar for our student teachers on Oct 20 and presented an outstanding workshop on resume writing and interview techniques for our seniors. Each one will be applying for teaching jobs in the near future and Mrs. Cappiello gave them insightful information on the process. Many of the student teachers are now teaching in the Nyack District Schools and we so appreciate our professional relationships with them.
Pictured with Principal Capiello are Gretchen Tobias, Lindsay Hoch, Rachel Logue, Emily Drake, Rhoda Chan, Sarah Welch, Rebecca Wahler, Colleen Gilfoy, Mariah Howe, Rebecca Collins, Ryan McDermott, and Deidra Padgett.

Last Senior Sem class today!
Well, we are at the end of the Spring semester. Today is the last class for the senior student teachers. You will present your Teacher Work Sample to the class and discuss your results and process. I am looking forward to your presentations and to hear about all that you have experienced during student teaching.
I will be praying for each of you as you graduate and begin your interviews and job searches.
I know the Lord will lead you.:)

Spring 2011 Student Teachers are in the Classrooms!
I am excited to announce that all 10 of Nyack College's Spring 11 student teachers are in the classrooms and doing well! 5 areECE - Early Childhood majors, 2 are CE -Childhood majors , and 3 are Adolescent Ed majors-2 Math-1 Social Studies.
Each one has designed the instruction for a unit teaching Learning Goals created by them. They will do a pre-test & a post-test to measure student learning during their time in the class, and I am confident that it will prove that students learn when the student teachers are teaching them.
Our focus this week is to extend God's love to our students through, mercy, forgiveness, encouragement, support, and preparation.:) How's it going STs ?

Two weeks of student teaching to go!
We started out with 15 weeks and we are now down to the last two. Make the most of them!
Try new teaching strategies, build relationships with colleagues, ask many questions of your mentors, and reach out to your students in new ways. You will soon be flying solo in your own classrooms so use the support that you have now to the max.:)
